How to manage your health using oils
Vegetable oil is an essential ingredient in cooking. We commonly use seven types of vegetable oil in our kitchens. These include olive oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, peanut oil, sesame oil, soybean oil, and safflower oil.
Each type of oil has its benefits.
For instance, olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fats, which help reduce cholesterol levels, while sesame oil contains polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) that help lower blood pressure.
Olive oil is also a great source of antioxidants that protect against heart disease.
Sunflower oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help prevent cancer. Soybean oil is rich in protein and fibre. Corn oil is rich in linoleic acid, which helps fight inflammation.

- Soybean oil
Soybeans are rich in protein, fibre, vitamins, and minerals. Soybean oil is high in unsaturated fats and contains omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce inflammation and help prevent heart disease. In addition, they may improve cognitive function and brain development in children. - Corn Oil
Corn oil is extracted from corn kernels. It is considered a neutral oil because it does not cause any allergic reactions. However, some people do experience headaches after consuming it. - Peanut Oil
Peanuts are packed with vitamin E, B complex vitamins, folate, iron, zinc, and selenium. These nutrients are essential for maintaining good skin, hair, and nails. Peanut oil is often recommended for those who suffer from eczema. - Sunflower Oil
Sunflower oil is high in polyunsaturated fat. Polyunsaturated fats are known to lower cholesterol levels and protect against cardiovascular disease. - Safflower Oil
Safflower oil is high in monounsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats have been linked to a reduced risk of coronary artery disease. - Olive Oil
Olive oil is high in antioxidants and contains many different types of phytochemicals. Antioxidants fight free radicals and help maintain cellular integrity. - Flaxseed Oil
Flaxseed oil is high in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA helps promote healthy joints and bones.
